The Senedd Sessions

Well, 2024 took an unexpected twist…

Back in March an opportunity arose to write an Anthem for the 25th Anniversary of the Welsh Parliament.

In April we had an opportunity to film the Anthem and two other songs in the Neuadd, the beautiful atrium space at The Senedd, home to the Parliament.

As well as being a huge honour, this chance came with some challenges. Our mission – should we decide to accept it – gave us just ten days to script, rehearse, and rough demo three songs (two of them the band had barely heard), brief the band (who had only previously played one 15-minute pub slot as a warm-up, the first time we met). Then there was the need to assemble an audio and video crew, whilst we obtained all necessary permissions from the Senedd, and compiled a full manifest of equipment (the building is ultra-secure and everything would be scanned from guitar picks to double-bass), Then we had to book accommodation for the crew, select and purchase an extra guitar and some percussion.

Ethan Hunt, we now know how you roll.

Well, somehow we did it. And then, four weeks later when the new harp guitar arrived –  we did it all again.

The result? The Senedd Sessions! Three tracks, Beltane Flame, Willow in Winter and of course, The Sendd Anthem, Tan Y Ddraig (Dragon‘s Fire). Two are out now as video and audio releases – Willow will follow soon!
